Masterson Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Professional Life

Maggie is an experienced psychotherapist, supervisor, and trainer. She works in private practice, providing long-term therapy for adults. Her clinical work is grounded in a psychoanalytic and relational orientation.

Alongside her clinical work, Maggie has an extensive training background. She taught in the Counselling Programme at the University of Notre Dame Australia for many years and has been involved in supervisor training for the Advanced Training Course in Professional Supervision since its inception in 2009.

Maggie is also a faculty member at the International Masterson Institute (East Coast, USA) and serves as the Director of Masterson Australia.

Supervision Background

Supervision forms a central part of Maggie’s professional life. She provides clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists, and other mental health professionals. She also offers supervision of supervision for trained supervisors.

Maggie undertook formal supervision training through Michael Carroll’s Centre for Supervision Training and holds an Advanced Certificate in Supervision. She served for several years on PACFA’s Training Standards Committee, contributing to the development of the national 2012 Supervision Training Standards

Maggie developed and co-conducted the Advanced Training Course in Professional Supervision with Susanna Howlett (until Susanna’s retirement in 2021).

Recognising the growing need for collegial connection and professional community among supervisors, Maggie initiated the establishment of Supervisors Network WA in 2024. Created in response to the often professionally isolated nature of supervisory work, the Network provides a welcoming forum for connection, fellowship and ongoing learning. It has been warmly embraced by supervisors from a wide range of human service professions and continues to grow as a valued cross-disciplinary community of practice.
